Raspberry Jam cake

Tried a new sponge cake recipe today. But wasn't too pleased with the texture. Turned out rather dry and dense. So I'm not posting the recipe; just photos.

This was how the cake looked like before frosting:

The recipe was taken from this book by Susannah Blake. Anyone has this book too?  What's your experience with the recipes?

your cake is lovely, so sad that the recipe is not as good as its look.

The cake is very beautifully crafted, just the one in most books. You are a genius!

Thank you for all your compliments, despite my disappointment with the recipe.

hi (: i tried pg 80 and 83. attempted those variations too. if you dont have sweet sweet tooth, reduce the sugar level. also, i reduce the butter too coz im not butter lover. heee. also, pg 32. is too oily despite reducing to 130ml oil! pound cakes are not bad too (:
